The benefits of implementing an Integrated Management System for Olive Cultivation, in compliance with the AGRO 2 standard and the processing global and national certifications, are indisputable especially when considering how competitive the olive industry is on a global level (i.e. drop in production costs). The ever increasing market needs call for the production of quality products with their own unique identity, high consumer safety standards, high added value and environmentally friendly farming. Thus, it is evident that implementing an integrated management system for olive cultivation and having aqcuired global processing food certifications is not at all about having a certificate for the sake of having one, but a production model that integrates all the quality and environmental parameters which are necessaryin order to produce competitive products.
Taking all these into account, the “Stylis Olive Producers’ Cooperative” has designed, developed and implements an olive farming production model based on the principles of integrated and environmental management. The model has been adjusted to olive cultivation and can be applied in a manner that complies with all the requirements of the AGRO 2.2 & 2-2/3 (Integrated Management System in Agricultural Production), national and global certification standards (ISO 9001, ISO 22000 & 22005, BRC and FSSC), as well as the requirements of existing quality systems, in line with the principles and specifications of integrated management.
